Attacker Who Stabbed Rangers Has History of Violent Attacks, Grabbed a Bite to Eat at McDonald’s

This guy basically sucks. Can’t really summarize it better than that.

From bostonherald.com:

“The 34-year-old homeless man accused of repeatedly stabbing two park rangers during a vicious daylight attack on Boston Common has a long history of violent assaults on family, friends and police, including pleas to cops to kill him similar to one he made after his run-in with the law Tuesday, records show.

Bodio Hutchinson’s mother called police in 2006 to report that her son was “breaking up everything” in her Dorchester home and had begun “putting metal household spray canisters in the microwave oven.” During a four-hour standoff with police, Hutchinson, armed with a knife, yelled, “Come on in and kill me, I don’t want to live anymore,” court records state. Four officers were injured in the arrest.

Hutchinson, who has been in and out of the Long Island homeless shelter, was held on $1 million bail after pleading not guilty yesterday to assault and attempted murder charges stemming from Tuesday’s attack that prosecutors said left both rangers with five stab wounds each.

The rangers, identified in court documents as Albert Hurd, 46, and James Lunnin, 25, were investigating a report of a man brandishing a knife when they questioned Hutchinson as he sat on a monument smoking a cigarette, according to prosecutors.

When Hutchinson lunged at the rangers with the knife, they pepper-sprayed him, but he kept coming. After calmly sitting on the monument after the attack, prosecutors say, Hutchinson strolled toward the Public Gardens, where police nabbed him after he tossed a 5-inch folding knife into the lagoon.

Just before he was cuffed, Hutchinson shouted at the cops, “Shoot me, shoot me!” prosecutors said.

Defense attorney Shannon Lopez said Hutchinson is a diagnosed “paranoid schizophrenic” who has long battled drug addiction.

Records show he also left a bloody trail of attacks on his loved ones, innocent bystanders and jail guards. Hutchinson’s uncle called police in 2008 after his nephew beat and stabbed him outside his Mattapan home, leaving “blood on the banisters, floorboards, and the couch on the front porch,” records show.

Two years later, his roommate of 10 years told police Hutchinson punched and kicked him before biting off part of his ear during a dispute over a female guest, according to court records.

While in Nashua Street jail on that bust, Hutchinson was accused of punching, kicking and biting corrections officers during a routine strip search.

Hutchinson was arrested again in 2013 after punching a woman at a McDonald’s in Newmarket Square, then beating and biting a man who tried to help her, police reported.”
