Car Thief Gets Busted at McDonald’s for Expired Tag

Mark Simmons had just picked up his order when cops stopped him at the McDonald’s drive thru exit.

It was just after 6:30 a.m. when two Boynton Beach police officers were patrolling the area around the McDonald’s on North Congress Avenue. They spotted an expired tag on the white Honda entering the drive thru. After checking their records, the cops say they saw the car was previously reported stolen through the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

After they stopped him, cops say Simmons told them he “borrowed” the Honda from a friend named. They tried calling the man, but couldn’t reach him, according to the arrest report. Police later confirmed the car belonged to a Lake Worth man, and that Simmons didn’t have a driver’s license.

Simmons, 26, is charged with grand theft auto and driving without a license.
