CRCOCKETT – An argument between a Grapeland couple in the parking lot of the McDonald’s in Crockett led to the arrest of both parties.
On the evening of Feb. 15, officers with the Crockett Police Department were dispatched the McDonald’s located at 1115 E. Loop 304 “in reference to a female being choked by a male subject.”
In an arrest report filed by Cpl. Alfredo Fajardo, it was reported that when he arrived on the scene he noticed several people gathered around a green Ford Expedition. “As I approached, one person from the crowd, later identified as Spencer Curry, started walking away from the crowd and towards the Ford with his hands balled up into fists. Also while I approached, a female in the parking lot pointed in the direction of Curry. I made contact with Curry, who appeared to be intoxicated, and detained him.”
Curry was arrested and charged with interference with an emergency call and assault family violence intentionally/knowing/recklessly impeding normal breathing. The interfernce charge is a class A misdemeanor while the assault charge is a third degree felony, which carries the possibility of two – ten years in proson and a $10,000 fine. Curry is incarcerated at the Houston County Jail on bonds totaling $9,500.
Barnes was also arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a class A or B misdemeanor depending on enhancement. She has posted bond and was released.
