Dude Quarter Pounds Guy in Face; Hold Up Thwarted by Off Duty Cop

Things went wrong for a couple at an Upstate McDonald’s drive-thru after deputies said a man punched the driver and threatened him with a gun.

The couple said they were in line when they saw the suspect leave McDonald’s on Alabama Avenue in Chesnee, according to Spartanburg County deputies.

The couple told deputies that’s when the man tried to talk to them. They asked him to go away but instead he punched the driver through an opening in the window, according to deputies.

Deputies said the man walked away again but then came back a second time. They said he got in the car and pointed a pistol at the driver.

An off-duty officer stepped in and secured the gun before police arrived.

We are told the couple is OK. Jacob Smith, 23, was arrested and charged with assault and battery, pointing and presenting a firearm and unlawful carrying of a pistol.
